Although surgery is the most effective (and hence, the most widely used) breast cancer treatment method, there are several other ways of dealing with the disease, some are more powerful than the others. These include radiation therapy, chemotherapy or hormonal therapy, each of them with their own assets and downsides.
Most of them however are used in combination with surgery for best effects, either prior to it, in order to reduce the size of the tumor or after the operation, in order to remove any remaining cancerous cells. For a better understanding of these alternative treatment methods for breast cancer, we’ll take a closer look at each, explaining how they work and in what cases they might prove useful.
Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy uses powerful gamma rays (x-rays) which target the specific area that needs to be treated with high precision. Usually, radiation therapy is performed after surgery, to destroy any cancer cells that have not been removed or the ones that formed up where the tumor was removed. Although it can’t be used as, a treatment on its own, radiation therapy is one of the most accepted post-surgery methods of breast conserving therapy (BCT) and has a high chance of stopping the cancer from recurring.
As with all treatments involving x-rays, there are some downsides to radiation therapy. First, in order to wipe out the cancerous cells that might have formed (or remained) in the area where the tumor was removed from, the x-rays will eventually damage some of the healthy tissue too. Although the process is highly precise, the rays cannot make a difference between cancerous and normal cells, so they “burn” them together.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy involves the administration of drugs that kill the cancer cells or stop them from growing. Most chemotherapy medications are given through an intravenous line, although some are administered in pill form. Chemotherapy is a harsh regime, which often makes people feel more ill than the illness they are suffering from; however, it has been proved very effective.
Chemotherapy is a great treatment method to use both prior and after surgery. With the help of this method, you can virtually contract the cancerous tumor before the actual surgery, making it easier and less complex to remove. In addition, chemotherapy is used in the same sense as radiation therapy after the surgical intervention, to stop the diseased cells to recur.
Chemotherapy is administered usually in cycles where each cycle consists of a period of intensive treatment that lasts for a few days or weeks followed by a week of recovery. Most patients with breast cancer have two to four cycles of chemotherapy to start with before tests are performed to see what effects it has had on the cancer.
Chemotherapy is different to radiation as it can treat the whole body with the potential of finding other tumor cells that have migrated from the breast and surrounding area. Many people are familiar with chemotherapy’s side effects although the side effects do depend upon drugs to treat the patient.
The most common side effects are loss of hair, loss of appetite, fatigue, vomiting and low blood cell count making the patient more susceptible to infections, feeling sick or tired. Many notice that they bleed more than usual, especially from gums, sores and small scrapes etc.
There are three different chemotherapy strategies are used in breast cancer:
Adjuvant chemotherapy this is given to patients who have undergone curative treatment for breast cancer such as radiation or surgery. In order to decrease the possibility of the breast cancer recurrence, this treatment is given.
Pre-surgical chemotherapy this is given to shrink a large tumor and/or to kill any stray cancerous cells. This will also increase the chance that the surgery will kill the cancer completely.
Regular chemotherapy this is given routinely to people who have breast cancer that has spread beyond the breast or the surrounding local area.
Hormonal therapy may also be given, as many breast cancers such as those that have ample estrogens or progesterone receptors are sensitive to changes in hormones.
Tamoxifen Breast Cancer Treatment
Those women who are genetically at high risk of developing breast cancer may benefit from tamoxifen as it has previously been seen to decrease the incidence of the disease occurring. Raloxifene, which is used to treat osteoporosis, is now being studied for treating breast cancer.
In some breast cancer cases, a woman’s natural hormones are suppressed with drugs whereas other patients find benefits by adding hormones. Tamoxifen for instance is currently the most commonly prescribed effective hormone treatment. It can be used for treating breast cancer and in the prevention of breast cancer. Tamoxifen has few side effects and can considerably improve the life span of those women who have advanced cases of breast cancer.
Fulvestrant Breast Cancer Treatment
A further treatment, Fulvestrant has recently been approved in the USA. It is planned to be used for treating hormone receptor positive metastastic breast cancer in women who have been through the menopause. It is given following antiestrogen therapy.
Monoclonal Breast Cancer Treatment
Another treatment known as monoclonal is antibodies that are antagonistic against the proteins, which are in or around cancer cells. They recognise an invader such as a cancer cell and attack it. This antibody therapy is currently being investigated holds out a lot of hope for breast cancer sufferers.
Excessive alcohol intake and obesity following menopause can increase the risk of developing breast cancer although this increase is slight. Those physically active women have a lower risk.
Preventative or Prophylactic Mastectomies
More and more women who are at a high risk of developing breast cancer are having preventative or prophylactic mastectomies to avoid them developing breast cancer.
The main risk factors for women to develop breast are age, sex and genetics. Women can do nothing about some risks so preventing death caused due to breast cancer is recommended with regular screening.
Women should undertake regular screening including self-examination, mammography and clinical breast examinations.
I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. That’s how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

One of the most promising developments in breast enhancement is Breast Gain Plus, a natural breast enhancer, which is an herbal supplement containing a variety of powerful extracts from herbs such as dong quai, kelp, watercress, fennel seed and dandelion as well as vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. All of these natural herbs contain high levels of compounds called phytoestrogens, which can bind to estrogen receptors in mammary tissue and stimulate new growth. All of the ingredients in the formula have been used for centuries and are regarded as safe by the FDA.
Having nicely shaped, rounded breasts can make a woman feel sexier and confident. However, with surgical breast enlargement procedures (such as breast augmentation and breast lifts) having a number of alarming side effects, more and more women are turning towards natural breast enhancement.
Most women would like to change the size and the shape of their breasts. And while the cosmetic changes are easy to achieve and reverse, if needed, breast augmentation surgery is not for everyone.
Surgical breast augmentation is a substantial investment of time and money, it has a lot of health consequences and the results can never be fully predictable. All together, these factors can make breast augmentation a last resort for those who want to change the size and shape of their breasts.
There are several alternatives that women can try to improve the shape of their breasts before resorting to surgery. These breast enhancement techniques range from breast enhancement creams and pills to easy breast enhancement exercises that tone all of your upper body.
THE FOOD and Drug Administration recently approved the use of silicone gel implants for use in breast augmentation. However, the FDA’s stamp of approval doesn’t mean implants are safe. There remain considerable risks that women must consider before walking into the operating room.
For those women looking for an alternative to painful and costly augmentation surgery, natural breast enhancers might just be the solution. Some of the latest products to hit the market have yielded positive results, welcome news for those unhappy with their current bust size.

Owing to the rush for penis enlargement techniques today, several surgical and non-surgical methods have been devised. These methods could be substantiated or not by medical science, but one fact stands – all of them have become successes in their own right. This is because most of the average men are dissatisfied with their penises as nature has endowed them with. This feeling is compounded by the penises of other men (read porn models) they see. Without giving it a thought, men establish it firmly in their minds that their penises are nothing but tiny little weenies.
This explains the spate of penis enlargement methods prevailing today. Let us go with the grind, then. This article will try to – very objectively – describe the popular penis enlargement methods that are being used by men over the world today.
Surgical methods are the most important (and expensive) methods of penis enlargements. Surgery can do two things with the penis. First, silicone implants can be introduced within the penis, which could be inflated and deflated by pushing at a pump in the groin area. Hence, this becomes a kind of make-erect-at-will kind of transplant. It is needless to say how cumbersome this could be; and not to mention, distressing in front of the female sex partner. However for men who are impotent, this method could be a boon.
The second method is more preferable. In this, the surgeon very deftly cuts some of the ligaments that keep the penis hung. When these ligaments are torn, they will fall and make the penis appear better hung.
In both the methods mentioned above, the main fear is of the technique itself. If the implant or the surgery is done by an inexperienced surgeon, then it could lead to permanent damage to the penis. This could cause an irreversible kind of situation, which could be a tragedy.
That explains why men are opting for non-surgical techniques today. Let us examine some of the non-surgical methods for penis enlargement that are in vogue.
The most popular ones are the herbal supplements. They are used in almost the same way as the supplements available for breast enlargement in women. Just pop a pill in the prescribed dosage per day and you will get your penis increased by centimeters! Naturally, there is wide-spread apprehension whether such easy techniques work, or whether they are just a way to earn a quick buck. The herbs used in the supplements are good enough; they have been used for centuries to achieve the same purpose. Some of these herbs are indeed famous all over the world, like the ginseng, ginkgo, blessed thistle, dong quai, kava kava, maca, etc., but how much effective they are, is yet to be known. Also some of these herbs could have unwarranted side effects, including common cold, sneezing and rashes over the skin. Hence, users need to get themselves examined by their physicians before they can go in for penis enlargement through herbal supplements.
One more serious contention is that herbal supplements bring about penile increase by tampering with the hormonal balance of the body. Anything that tries to interfere with the balance of hormones is not good for the body. Hence, the medical fraternity is dead against the use of these herbal supplements.
Mechanical devices are also available for penis enlargement. The penis enlargement pumps are quite popular. They work in much the same manner – by creating pressure – as the breast enlargement pumps devised for women. The basic difference is in the shape. The penis enlargement pumps are cylindrical, to fit over the shape of the penis.
Again there are problems in the use of these penis enlargement pumps. Sometimes the pressure built up could be too high, which could lead to bleeding within the penis. Just imagine, how scary that would look! Some of the pumps have hard rims, which could cut within the flesh around the scrotum, or the base of the penis where the pump is meant to fit. The pump could tear in the ligaments and cause some serious damage.
Penis massages are perhaps the safest ways to bring about a size increase in the penis; provided they are done in a safe way. Jelquing and squeezing are the two popular types of massages. These are explained widely all over the internet. All one has to do is to grasp the penis at the base and then move the hand towards the head of the penis, all the time applying pressure with the thumb. This will open up the tissues of the corpus cavernosa and make them more available for getting filled with blood during erection. However massages done in excess are also known to cause damage to the penis, and to increase penis curves.
The best method is to make you penis look bigger than it actually is. You can try by trimming out the hair in the pubic area. The hair hides some of your penis. So when it is trimmed, your penis will automatically look bigger. You can also wear underwear that bulge at the crotch. This will make your penis look bigger when you wear your trousers or jeans, by creating ‘a visual impact’.
Finally, remember that women prefer a clean penis to a big but dirty penis. So penis hygiene is the most important thing. Keep your penis clean by washing the area thoroughly during the bath, and using a mild soap in the area.

in the plastic surgery queue
Im 18 years old and i have size 32B breasts. I like them being quite small because im quite athletic, but i dont want them to be like this forever and i think i’ve stopped growing. I’ve heard of pumps and creams and stuff but they all scream "scam" to me. Apart from push-up bras, is there anything to increase breast size that you’ve tried? thanks
You said you’re athletic, so I guess you already know working on your pecs will affect how your breasts hang and look, which can make them seem bigger… or at least perkier
But, follow your instincts about the creams and pumps. They are scams. Birth control tends to make breasts grow, at least a little (its the entire reason a friend of mine started taking it! She went up a cup size.) Other than that, there are push-up bras, water bras, and surgery.
how fast do they work?
how much bigger do you grow?
im a 32a (id like to be a 36a or a b.
They use things that mimic estrogen (soy is often used, for example), which causes temporary swelling of the breasts.
As you soon as you stop taking the pills, the swelling abates and you are back to your original size.
I am looking for a natural breast enhancement product(s) that can make my boobs bigger and won’t regress back once i stop using the product
Um, I just thought I would chip in, since the first two answers you have received so far are just so…………… well, just not satisfactory.
First of all, yes pregnancy could possibly make your boobs grow a bit, but not always and most importantly, who would get pregnant just to enhance their boobs? I mean, I hope that everyone is going DUH at me saying this, but in case you are really THAT desperate to create a living child simply for making your boobs grow, surgery would be the way to go. I know you weren’t asking for that lecture (which is actually directed at the first answerer) so I’ll shut up.
And semen. Nope. That is (actually both the first and the second) the lamest answer I have ever heard.
The best answer I can give is: eat lots of cheap chicken meat while and after taking breast enhancement supplements. KFC or something. They use breast growth hormones in the chickens so they have more breast meat. Of course, this could be just a myth.
Also, drink lots of milk. Who cares if it actually has anything to do with breast growth. It’s good for you. That’s a fact.
